Apple Dumplings

Submitted by 1 Egg Man (Ron)

Dough: 2 cups flour
1/2 to 3/4 cups shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cold milk
Peel and core about 8 apples and cut each into 2 to 4 pieces (depending on how large you want the dumplings) we always quarter ours. Roll dough, cut into equal pieces and seal an apple piece in each.

Syrup: 2 cups water
2 cups sugar (white granulated)
1/4 lb. butter (1 stick)
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Bring all to a boil and simmer about 5 minutes.

Put the dumplings in a baking pan or dish, cover with the syrup and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Let me know how you like them and they are great with some vanilla ice cream on top.

Editors Note:  Did you notice that there are no eggs in this recipe?

I guess Ron must have carved them all!
